Terms of Service

Last updated November 7, 2026 · See also our Privacy Policy

These Terms cover Good Sorcery Cloud, the hosted version of Good Sorcery at app.goodsorcery.com, and this website. They're written to be read, not just agreed to.

1. The agreement

Good Sorcery Cloud (the Service) is run by Creative Sorcery LLC, a Nevada limited liability company (we, us). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service for a company or other organization, you agree on its behalf and confirm you're allowed to.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.

2. The Service

The Service receives error reports, performance data and uptime checks from the apps you connect, shows them in a dashboard and sends you alerts. It's a small business run by one person, and we do our best to keep it fast, secure and available.

3. Your account

  • Give us accurate information and keep your email address up to date.
  • Keep your password and API keys secret. You're responsible for what happens under your account and keys.
  • Tell us at support@goodsorcery.com if you think your account or keys have been compromised.
  • Account owners decide who can access the account's apps and data.

4. Your data

Customer Data means what your apps send to the Service: error events, performance metrics and traces, uptime monitor settings and results, and anything they contain. You own your Customer Data. You give us permission to store, process and display it only to provide, secure and support the Service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. We don't sell it, and we don't use it to train AI models.

You're responsible for your Customer Data, including that:

  • you have the right to send it to us, and you've given any notices to (and obtained any consents from) the people it's about that the law requires;
  • you configure the Ruby gem's filtering so your apps don't send data you shouldn't share. Good Sorcery removes common secrets and encrypts captured data at rest, but you decide what your apps send.

Customer Data is deleted automatically after your account's retention period, and when your account is closed (see section 9).

5. Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • use the Service for anything illegal, or to store or send unlawful, infringing or malicious content;
  • intentionally send highly sensitive data, such as payment card numbers, passwords, government ID numbers or health records;
  • attack, probe or overload the Service or its infrastructure, or use uptime monitors to target sites you aren't allowed to check;
  • get around usage limits, rate limits or security measures, for example by opening extra accounts to avoid limits;
  • resell the Service or let others use your account without our permission.

6. Usage limits and fees

The Service is currently free to use, within limits shown in the app, such as the number of apps, monthly events and how long data is kept. Events beyond your monthly limit may be rejected. We may change these limits. If we introduce paid plans, we'll tell you in advance, and we'll never charge you without your agreement.

7. Open-source software

Good Sorcery's server and Ruby gem are open source under the MIT License. If you run Good Sorcery on your own servers, you aren't using the Service, these Terms don't apply to your installation, and the MIT License governs the code. Our names and logos aren't covered by that license.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service running, but we don't promise any particular uptime, and there's no service-level agreement. We may change, add or remove features. If we decide to shut the Service down, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email.

9. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. To close your account and have your data deleted, email support@goodsorcery.com from the account's address.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, puts the Service or other customers at risk, or that the law requires us to act on. Where it's reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. After an account is closed, we delete its data within 30 days, apart from short-lived backups that roll off on their own and anything the law requires us to keep.

10. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every error, slowdown or outage will be captured, or that every alert will arrive. Don't rely on the Service as your only safeguard for critical systems.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows:

  • we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, even if we were told they were possible;
  • our total liability for all claims about the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of USD $50 or the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.

Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud.

12. Indemnity

If someone makes a claim against us because of your Customer Data, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, including legal fees. We'll tell you about the claim promptly and let you help with the defense.

13. Feedback

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything. Contributions to the open-source code follow the project's own contribution process on GitHub.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Nevada, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. Either of us may still bring a claim in small-claims court where it qualifies. Before starting a claim, please email us so we can try to sort it out informally.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after that, the new Terms apply. If you don't agree, you can close your account.

16. General

  • These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • If part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't given it up.
  • You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them if the Service is sold or moved to another company, and we'll tell you if that happens.
  • Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
  • If you need a data processing agreement for your Customer Data, email us.
